To improve the basic education curriculum in Nigeria, the Federal Government has added 12 new practical subjects.
The subjects includes, hairstyling, plumbing, GSM repair, makeup, tiling, Satellite/Tv antenna installation, Interior design, POP installation, event decoration, bakery and confectionaries, solar installation and maintenance, CCTV and Intercom installation and maintenance, horticulture and livestock farming like poultries, and digital literacy (including IT and Robotics).
The statement was issued by the National Orientation Agency (NOA) yesterday, the new subjects were added to the basic education curriculum so as to boost students practical skills and employability. the also confirmed that the new added subjects will take effect from January, 2025 for primary and junior secondary stdents across the country.
Most reactions online see it as a welcome development and hope that the Government will continue to work in this line so as to improve the countries human resouce index and economic viability.
