Donald J. Trump posted on his truth social reacting to the development, the president-elect told reporters that the case was a "disgrace," though he acknowledged that the Supreme Court's decision was "fair."

He was reacting after the US Supreme Court dismissed his last-minute attempt to delay his sentencing in the criminal hush-money case.

Trump had requested the top court to consider whether he deserved an automatic stay of his sentencing, but the justices denied the application with a 5-4 vote.

On Thursday, the court decision marks the end of Trump's legal efforts to postpone his sentencing. The court stated that Donald Trump could address his concerns with the given verdict through appeals.

The Judges noted that they are aware of the burden the sentencing will impose on Donald Trump as a Presidential Candidate to be sworn in January 20, which is ten days ahead of his inauguration for a second term.

In May 2024, a Manhattan jury found Trump guilty of 34 felony counts of falsifying records to disguise reimbursements for a $130,000 hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels as legal expenses in 2016.

Justice Juan Merchan, overseeing the case, has indicated that he will not consider a jail term for Trump.
