International Criminal Court issues arrest for Benjamin Netanyahu

Benjamin Netanyahu

The international criminal court has issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and its former defense Minister Yoav Gallant over alleged war crimes in the Gaza Strip.

In a statement released on Thursday, The court said it found reasonable grounds to believe that Benjamin Netanyahu is responsible for war crimes, which include:

  • starvation as a form of warfare
  • the inhumane acts of intentionally directing an attack against the civilian population
The court rejected Israel's challenge to the jurisdiction of the Netherland-based court. The court also issued an arrest warrant to Muhammad Deif, Hamas military chief, for crimes against humanity, murder, hostage-taking and sexual violence.
