Nigerian singer Patoranking is mourning the devastating loss of his sister and her husband, who tragically died in a gas explosion in Ebonyi State.
The Ebonyi Police Command has confirmed that the victims, Mr. and Mrs. George Onuabuchi, were involved in the explosion that took place on Sunday, August 25, in Abakaliki.
Deputy Superintendent of Police and spokesperson for the Command, Joshua Ukandu, stated that the incident was caused by a gas cylinder rather than an inverter battery.
Ukandu noted that initial investigations revealed the couple lost their lives due to the explosion, which occurred in the Waterworks area of Abakaliki. Local residents quickly notified the authorities, but by the time help arrived, the couple had already been transported to the hospital.
Tragically, both succumbed to their injuries; Chioma, the wife, passed away in August, while her husband died in September. Chioma was recognized as the younger sister of the popular Nigerian Afrobeat musician, Patoranking.
Details surrounding the incident remain limited, as the couple did not survive to recount their experience. They leave behind a three-year-old son.
