In an unexpected turn of events, Russian President Vladimir Putin has publicly shown support for U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris as the 2024 presidential election approaches.
Speaking at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, Putin made a sarcastic remark, saying, "Biden recommended all his supporters support Mrs. Harris. Here, we are going to do that too."
He noted Harris's cheerful demeanor, pointing out her "infectious laugh," which he claimed indicated she was in good spirits for the race.
Putin's endorsement comes at a time when the U.S. government has accused Russian state-funded media of trying to meddle in the November election.
But the question still remains about the true intentions behind Putin's support and whether it is part of a strategy to create division in U.S. politics.
