In Ado-Ekiti yesterday a police assistant inspector was killed by a hit and run driver. The incident happened during a stop and search operation by the Police in a checkpoint at Ayemi Garage towards Iworoko Road.
The Police officer was rushed to the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital but was confirmed dead by the doctor after few minutes.
The car of the hit and run driver has been identified as a white color unmarked Mercedes Benz.
The hit and run driver crushed the officer on Monday, September 9th at about 11:00pm.
According to Police internal memo the officer's body, Idris Lawal has been deposited for autopsy.
