Nenadi Usman Appointed as Labour Party Caretaker Chair

Former Nigerian Finance Minister Nenadi Usman has been named the new Caretaker Committee Chair of the Labour Party (LP) following the dismissal of Julius Abure.

Usman's appointment comes with a track record. In 2016, she return ₦140 million and surrender two houses in Abuja to the Federal Government under Buhari.

The former senator and PDP member was under investigation for allegedly receiving ₦2.5 billion out of over ₦4 billion withdrawn from the Central Bank of Nigeria and distributed to various accounts before the 2015 elections.

Usman, who served as Finance Minister under President Obasanjo, was elected to the Senate in 2011 but lost her re-election bid in 2015. Now, she is tasked with leading the Labour Party as it prepares for another election come 2027.
