Eid-ul-Mawlid: Nigerian Federal Government Declares Holiday

The Nigerian Federal Government has declared Monday, September 16, 2024, as a public holiday in observance of Eid-ul-Mawlid, celebrating the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement released by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the ministry's Permanent Secretary.

In his message, Minister Tunji-Ojo extended warm wishes to the Muslim community both in Nigeria and around the world on this important occasion. 

He encouraged all Muslims and Nigerians to embrace the principles of patience, sacrifice, and resilience during this festive time.

Additionally, he emphasized the significance of the Eid-ul-Mawlid celebrations as an opportunity for prayer for peace and prosperity in Nigeria. 

The Minister urged citizens to reflect on the teachings of Prophet Muhammad and work towards fostering a more peaceful and equitable society.
