A heartbreaking incident occurred in Borno State, Nigeria, when a boat capsized, leading to the loss of four lives. The accident happened on September 23, 2024, around 3:30 PM in the Bakassi community, which lies between Mafa and Dikwa along the Maiduguri Road.
ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, speaking for the police, shared the sad news. Among those who died were three children and one adult. The youngest victim was only 5 months old.
Here are the details of those who lost their lives:
- Ya Mallum Shettima - an adult woman from Marte area
- Maimuna Akura - 10 years old
- Umira Alhaji Bulama - 6 years old
- Yagana Bulama Kawu - 5 months old
All four were from the Bulabulin Ward in Dikwa.
After the accident, the victims were quickly taken to Dikwa General Hospital. Sadly, doctors confirmed they had passed away. Following this, their bodies were given to their families for burial according to Islamic customs.
