The Federal Government will backdate the paying of the new minimum wage to NYSC members, the new allowance will commence from July 2024, Youths serving in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) will get 77,000 Naira every month. This is a big jump from the 33,000 Naira they are currently earning.
The news was shared on the official NYSC handle on facebook @Officialnyscng on Wednesday evening, September 25.
This change is part of a new law about the 70,000 minimum wage in Nigeria. The National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission sent a letter about this on September 25, 2024.
Before this happened, the head of NYSC, Brigadier General YD Ahmed, had asked the government to take better care of the corps members.
The NYSC leader is very happy about this decision. He thinks it will help the CORPERS and make them even more excited to serve Nigeria.
