Underage Exam Ban: NECO, WAEC Set 18-Year Age Limit

The Federal Government has implemented a ban on candidates under 18 from taking the NECO and WAEC examinations.

Education Minister Professor Tahir Mamman announced this policy during an interview on Channels Television, emphasizing that both the National Examinations Council (NECO) and the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) must enforce this age limit.

He reiterated that the minimum age for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) remains 18, with this year serving as a transition period for parents.

Mamman clarified that this is not a new policy but a reminder of existing regulations regarding educational timelines
