 Portuguese football legend Pepe has officially announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 41. The announcement came via an emotional video shared on social media, where he reflected on his illustrious career and expressed gratitude to those who supported him throughout his journey.

Pepe's final match took place during the Euro 2024 quarterfinals, where Portugal faced France and suffered a heartbreaking penalty shootout defeat. This match was particularly significant as it marked Pepe as the oldest player to participate in a European Championship finals, a record he achieved just a month prior to his retirement.

Throughout his career, Pepe earned a remarkable 141 caps for the Portuguese national team, contributing to Portugal's historic victory in the Euro 2016 tournament. His club career is equally impressive, highlighted by a decade at Real Madrid, where he secured three La Liga titles and three UEFA Champions League trophies.
