Kano South Senator Sumaila Kawu Exposes True Monthly Income of N21 Million

In a shocking revelation, Senator Sumaila Kawu, representing Kano South, has disclosed that he takes home a whopping N21 million every month as a senator.

This figure is in stark contrast to the official monthly salary of N1 million set by the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).

Speaking to the BBC Hausa Service, Senator Kawu explained that after deductions, his official salary drops to around N600,000.

However, he added that there are various allowances that boost their total monthly earnings to a staggering N21 million.
These allowances include, but are not limited to, office running costs, newspaper allowances, and local travel expenses.

Senator Kawu's revelation comes just a day after RMAFC, the body responsible for fixing salaries and allowances of political office holders, claimed that each senator receives a total of N1.06 million per month.

RMAFC Chairman, Mohammed Shehu, provided a breakdown of the components that make up a senator's monthly earnings, categorizing them into regular and non-regular allowances.

However, Senator Kawu's statement directly contradicts these figures, raising questions about the transparency and accountability of the National Assembly's financial practices.
