Issa Hayatou, Long-Serving CAF President, Dies in Paris at Age 77


Former President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Issa Hayatou, has died at the age of 77 in Paris on August 8, 2024, a day before his 78th birthday.

Hayatou led CAF from 1988 until March 2017 and briefly served as interim FIFA president during the organization's corruption crisis from 2015 to 2016. 

FIFA President Gianni Infantino expressed condolences, highlighting Hayatou's dedication to sports administration. A significant figure in African football, Hayatou's legacy will continue to influence the sport across the continent
