Chinese Box Office Alien: Romulus has emerged as Hollywood's second highest-grossing film in China for 2024, following a robust second weekend.
The sci-fi thriller earned RMB 140 million ($19.7 million) from Friday to Sunday, bringing its total to RMB 523 million ($73.7 million) since its August 16 release.
This success surpasses other major franchises, with only “Godzilla v Kong” outperforming it at $134 million.
Notably, “Kung Fu Panda 4” and “Despicable Me 4” lag behind at $52 million and $56 million, respectively.
In the same weekend, local films like “The Hedgehog” and “Untouchable” also performed well, contributing to a weekend box office total of $70.8 million in China
