In a distressing turn of events, the leader of Rakyabu village in Tsafe Local Government Area, Zamfara State, along with the community's Chief Imam, has been captured by armed criminals. The village chief, Magaji Sa'idu, and Imam Malam Abdullahi were forcibly taken from their homes on the evening of December 17, 2023, as reported by local resident Amadu Mohammed.

The assailants have demanded a hefty sum of N5 million for their release, an amount that the villagers are struggling to collect. Despite managing to gather N500,000 through a fundraising initiative and delivering it to the kidnappers, the captors remain adamant about receiving the full amount. Mohammed expressed the community's dire situation, noting that they have been left with virtually nothing to sell to meet the kidnappers' demands.

The situation has caused great distress within the community, which now calls upon government authorities to intervene and assist in the safe return of their village head and Imam. The incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by many communities in the region, where such abductions have become increasingly common.
