In a significant development for the political landscape of Rivers State, Governor Sim Fubara and his predecessor Nyesom Wike have come to an amicable resolution following a private discussion with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on December 18. The meeting has led to several key agreements aimed at restoring harmony and governance in the state.

The agreements reached are as follows:

1. Governor Fubara has agreed to withdraw all legal actions related to the state's political discord.

2. Efforts to impeach Governor Fubara initiated by the state legislature are to be halted immediately.

3. The current leadership of the Rivers State House of Assembly, under Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule, will be acknowledged, including the 27 members who left the PDP.

4. The salary and entitlements of all assembly members and their staff are to be fully restored, and the executive branch is to ensure the legislature is adequately funded without any interference.

5. The Rivers State House of Assembly will have the autonomy to decide on their meeting venue for legislative activities without any obstruction from the state's executive branch.

6. Governor Fubara is expected to resubmit the state's budget proposal to a duly reconstituted assembly.

7. The names of all former commissioners who resigned due to the political turmoil will be reconsidered by the House for reappointment.

8. The establishment of caretaker committees for local governments has been deemed invalid, and the previous local government administrations are to be reinstated.

These resolutions mark a pivotal step towards reconciliation and governance stability in Rivers State.
