A former soldier and paralympic swimmer shot and killed his bride and three others before turning the gun on himself at his wedding in Thailand.

The horrific incident happened on Saturday, November 25, 2023, in a village in Wang Nam Khieo district, in the northeastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima.

The groom, Chaturong Suksuk, 29, had been living with Kanchana Pachunthuek, 44, for three years and they decided to tie the knot. They had a traditional ceremony in the morning and a feast afterward.

But Suksuk suddenly left the party and came back with a pistol. He shot his wife, her mother, her sister, and two guests. Four of them died and one was critically injured. He then killed himself with the same weapon. Police found 11 bullet casings at the scene.

The motive for the shooting is still unknown, but police said Suksuk was drunk and may have been jealous of his wife. Witnesses said he feared she would leave him for another man because he had lost his right leg while serving as a ranger in the army.

Suksuk was a medal-winning swimmer who competed in the 2022 ASEAN Para Games in Indonesia and Cambodia.
