Governor Peter Mbah targets Minimum wage of 100,000 naira from April 2024

The Governor of Enugu State, Bar. Peter Mbah, met with the leaders of the labour unions in the state to discuss the welfare of the civil servants and the vulnerable ones in the state. The meeting was held at the Government House in Enugu on Friday.

The Governor revealed that he had approved a five-month palliative package for the civil servants in the state, which would range from N10,000 to N25,000 depending on the category of the workers. He said that the palliative was aimed at cushioning the effects of the economic hardship caused by the subsidy removal and the rising inflation in the country.

The Governor also disclosed to the Labour Leaders, that he is working on a minimum wage plan of 100,000 naira for workers from April 2024 which will comprise social services that the Government will develop to alleviate the huge cost of transportation and other amenities.

The Governor stated "Our ultimate goal is that when a monetary value is put on all the social services we are providing to our workers, it will weigh well above the N100,000 minimum wage"
