Tupac Shakur’s Alleged Killer Arrested by Las Vegas Police

Las Vegas police have arrested a man who they suspect killed Tupac Shakur in 1996.

Duane “Keffe D” Davis was taken into custody on Friday morning, September 29, but the charges against him were not clear.

The AP reported that an indictment was expected later that day.

Tupac Shakur was shot in a drive-by shooting near the Las Vegas Strip on September 7, 1996. He died six days later at the age of 25 in a hospital.

Davis admitted in his 2019 memoir, “Compton Street Legend”, that he was in the Cadillac that fired the shots at Shakur, according to the AP.

In July this year, Las Vegas police searched the home of Davis’ wife, Pamela Clemons, in Henderson, Nevada, as part of the investigation into Shakur’s death.

The Post obtained a search warrant that showed that police seized several computers, laptops, and iPads from the house, as well as a.40-caliber bullet, the same type as the ones found at the scene where Shakur was shot.

Greg Kading, a retired LAPD detective who had investigated Tupac’s death, told The Post on Friday that Davis provided the gun and his nephew pulled the trigger.

"Davis gave his nephew, who was in the car with them, the gun, and they all went out to shoot Tupac. He is guilty of soliciting for murder because he supplied the gun and his nephew did the shooting. They are all equally responsible.

“I am very happy because this is huge,” Kading said. "We knew this was not an open case, and it seems they have finally reached a point where they can officially close it. Tupac’s death will not be a mystery anymore.

Tupac’s life ended abruptly when he and his friends were on their way to a nightclub after watching Mike Tyson beat Bruce Seldon in a boxing match in Las Vegas.

Shakur was in a black BMW when a white Cadillac pulled up next to it and the shooter inside fired at least nine shots, apparently aiming at Shakur’s seat. The actor and singer was hit four times.

Marion “Suge” Knight, the co-founder of Death Row Records, which produced Shakur’s music, was driving the BMW. He only suffered minor injuries when a bullet fragment grazed his head.
