Ronaldo’s Arrival in Tehran Causes Chaos Among Football Fans

Tehran

On September 18, as star player Cristiano Ronaldo came to Tehran with his Saudi teammates in advance of a game, hundreds of football fans barged into a hotel to get a look at him.

A huge mob pursued the Al-Nassr bus when Ronaldo and his teammates arrived. "Ronaldo, Ronaldo" was then chanted as they surrounded his hotel.

Security's attempts to keep them under control were unsuccessful.

The supporters crowded the hallways and common areas of the Espians Palace Hotel while carrying Ronaldo posters and sporting Ronaldo shirts.

Ronaldo traveled to Iran for the first time with Al Nassr, a Saudi football team that will face Persepolis on September 19 in Tehran. On November 27, the rematch will be held in Riyadh, the Saudi Arabian capital.

Security guards led Ronaldo to his room at the Espinas Palace in Tehran, where the rest of the Al-Nassr team and their personnel soon followed.

A suite has been secured for Ronaldo on the full floor designated for the Al-Nassr celebration.
