Presidential Election

The Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPT) will deliver its verdict on the petitions challenging the election of President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday, September 6th. The court’s registrar, Umar Bangari, confirmed this to Channels Television on Monday, September 4. He said that the court proceedings would be aired live by interested TV stations.

President Tinubu, who won the 2023 presidential election according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), is facing petitions from three parties and their candidates. They are the Labour Party (LP), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM). They are seeking to annul Tinubu’s victory and declare themselves as the rightful winners.

The tribunal will also deliver judgment on election petitions for governorship, National Assembly, and state assembly elections in 25 states. The elections, which were held in 28 states, are being disputed by various parties and candidates who are not satisfied with the results announced by INEC.
