The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has announced that it has deployed its personnel across the country to ensure security and order before, during, and after the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal Judgment, which is expected to be delivered on Wednesday, September 6, 2023.

The tribunal will rule on the petitions filed by five opposition parties, who are challenging the victory of Bola Tinubu, the president-elect of Nigeria, in the February 25, 2023, presidential election.

In a statement issued by its spokesperson, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the police said they have put in place all necessary measures to prevent any breakdown of law and order and to protect the lives and property of Nigerians.

The statement also warned all individuals, especially those who may want to cause trouble or make inflammatory statements, to refrain from any actions or utterances that could incite violence or chaos. The police said they will not tolerate any activities that could threaten the peace and stability of the country.

The police urged all Nigerians to remain calm and peaceful, regardless of their political affiliations, and to respect the rule of law and the rights of others.

The NPF said it is committed to its duty of serving and protecting the Nigerian people and will perform its role with professionalism, impartiality, and dedication.
