Peter Obi Vows to Appeal the Court Ruling that Upheld Tinubu’s Victory in 2023 Election

Peter Obi

The Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the verdict of the Presidential Election Petitions Court (PEPC) that confirmed the win of President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the February 25 poll.

Obi, who addressed journalists in Onitsha, Anambra State, on Thursday evening, September 7, said he will be challenging the judgement at the Supreme Court. He said he has instructed his legal team to file an appeal and that he will not give up on reclaiming ‘his mandate.’

“I respect the opinion and ruling of the court, but I disagree with the reasoning and conclusion of the judgement. As the presidential candidate and the Labour party, we intend to appeal this judgement as soon as possible, as permitted by the constitution of Nigeria. The PEPC has delivered its judgement, but it is not the final authority. The final decision lies with the Supreme Court.”

He also said:

“I will not stop fighting for justice, not only for myself but for our millions of supporters across Nigeria who gave us their mandate at the polls, which was unfortunately stolen by INEC.”
