Meet the Ugandan Man Who Married Seven Wives in One Day, Including Two Sisters

In a rare and remarkable event, a Ugandan businessman, Ssaalongo Nsikonenne Habib Ssezzigu, tied the knot with seven women on the same day. The wedding ceremony took place at Bugereka village, in Mukono district on Sunday, September 10, 2023.

Among the seven brides, two of them are biological sisters. The names of the wives are Mariam, Madinah, Aisha, Zainabu, Fatuma, Rashida, and Musanyusa. Musanyusa is Habib’s first wife and has been with him for seven years.

The wedding ceremony started early in the morning when the brides were taken to local salons for styling. They were then placed in waiting Super Custom vans, with personalized plates bearing their names. Habib also bought brand-new cars as gifts for each one of his wives.

The couples exchanged their vows and then held a big procession led by boda boda cyclists. They passed through the towns of Kalagi, Kasana, and Nakifuma, before arriving at their home at 6 pm in the evening.

The wedding ceremony attracted a lot of attention from the public, who lined up on the roadsides to witness the spectacle. Some people were amazed, others were curious, and some were skeptical about the arrangement.

At the reception, the brides found their seats prepared, each labelled with their own names. Habib praised his wives for being loyal to him and said that he had no jealousy among them. He also said that he introduced them separately and decided to wed them all at once to make one big happy family.

He added that he was still a young man and that he might add more wives in the future. He said that polygamy was a tradition in his family and that his grandfather had six wives who lived in one house separated by curtains. His father had five wives and he himself had four wives who lived in one house.

Habib’s father, Hajj Abdul Ssemakula, confirmed that polygamy was a practice in their family and that he was proud of his son for breaking the record of marrying many wives in Uganda at once.

This wedding ceremony is one of the most unusual and extraordinary events that have ever happened in Uganda. It has raised many questions and debates about polygamy, culture, and religion in the country.
