How Lionel Messi felt snubbed by PSG after winning the World Cup with Argentina

Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the chairman of Paris Saint-Germain, has responded to Lionel Messi's assertion that his club would not recognize him.

While still playing for PSG, the 36-year-old and the Albiceleste defeated France in Qatar to win the 2022 World Cup.

Messi recently acknowledged he 'wasn't happy' at the Parc des Princes and looked dissatisfied with his treatment following the World Cup in an interview with Migue Granados on OLGA.

It was reasonable, he admitted. We [Argentina] were the world champions, so it was our responsibility that they [France] weren't world champions again.

In a thrilling final in Qatar, Messi and PSG teammate Kylian Mbappe both shone, combining for five goals as Argentina prevailed on penalties.

Among the other 25 Argentine players, Messi continued, "I was the only player who wasn't recognized by his club."

Al-Khelaifi has since provided a different account of what happened. He was quoted by Football Espana as saying: "We celebrated Messi in training and we also celebrated him in private, as everyone saw because we even published a video."

Respectfully, nevertheless, we are a French club. Of course, celebrating at the stadium was inappropriate. Respect must be shown to the nation he beat, his France colleagues, and our supporters as well.

During his time in the French city, Messi made 75 appearances and scored 32 goals, winning back-to-back Ligue 1 championships in the process.

He left PSG in June to join MLS team Inter Miami, but was unable to lead them through the round of 16 in the Champions League.
