Biden Appoints Two Nigerian-Americans as Advisors: Meet Chiney Ogwumike and Osagie Imasogie

US President Joe Biden has appointed two Nigerians with American citizenship as advisors. Osagie Imasogie and Chiney Ogwumike are part of the 12-member President’s Advisory Council on African Diaspora Engagement in the US, according to the White House website.

The chair of NIDCOM, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, praised the inclusion of the two Nigerians in the council and said it would motivate other Nigerians. She said it was a positive step in a statement on Wednesday.

Chinenye Ogwumike is a WNBA star with the Los Angeles Sparks and a multi-platform ESPN host and NBA analyst. She graduated from Stanford University with an international relations degree and is a proud Nigerian-American. She became the first Black woman to host a national sports-talk radio show in August 2020. She also produced and executive produced the ESPN Films documentary “144” on the 2020 WNBA season.

Osagie Imasogie is the chairman of Quoin Capital and Quoin Advisors, an investment bank and broker-dealer. He co-founded PIPV Capital, a private equity firm with a life sciences focus that has invested over $1 billion. He has LLM degrees from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School and the London School of Economics.
