Atiku Appeals to Supreme Court to Nullify Tinubu’s Election Victory

The PDP presidential flagbearer, Abubakar Atiku, has challenged the verdict of the Presidential Election Petitions Court, which affirmed the victory of President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 election, at the Supreme Court.

In his notice of appeal, Atiku maintained that the tribunal was unjust in its findings and conclusion in his petition against the declaration of Tinubu as President by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The notice of appeal is also asking the apex court to overturn the entire findings and conclusions of the Tribunal on the grounds that they did not reflect the true picture of his petition.

Atiku argued that the tribunal made a mistake in law when it refused to invalidate the presidential election held on February 25, 2023, on the grounds of non-compliance with the Electoral Act 2022, when by the evidence before the Tribunal, ’INEC conducted the election based on grave and gross misrepresentation, contrary to the Electoral Act 2022.’
