Barcelona Femeni striker Asisat Oshoala has been nominated for the prestigious 2023 Women’s Ballon d’Or award. The Nigerian international is one of the 30 players shortlisted by French Football, the organizers of the award, on Wednesday, September 6.
Oshoala had a stellar season with Barcelona, winning the Champions League, the Primera Division, and the Supercopa de Espana Femenina. She scored 21 goals in 28 league games and was also part of the Nigerian team that reached the round of 16 at the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia/New Zealand.
She will face stiff competition from other nominees, including Aitana Bonmati, who also plays for Barcelona and was part of the Spain team that won the Women’s World Cup. The winner of the award will be announced in December.
