Mohammed Shehu, the chairman of the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), has demanded that pensions for former governors who afterwards became senators or ministers be suspended.

The RMAFC boss said it is a disservice to states for former Governors to continue receiving large pensions after becoming senators and ministers in an interview with Sunday Vanguard in Abuja.

He Said,

"A person who holds the office of governor for four or eight years, as the case may be, and subsequently advances to the position of senator or minister shouldn't receive a double salary from the public purse.

"Many states have laws that provide former governors with generous pensions, and when these individuals become senators or ministers, they continue to receive salaries and other benefits in their new positions, which shouldn't be the case."
