Monica Foster, 32, married her former science teacher Michelle, 57, earlier this year after reconnecting with her on Facebook. They first met in 2004 when Monica was a 13-year-old student in Big Rapids, Michigan, US.

Monica was a “teacher’s pet” who admired Michelle, but their relationship was strictly professional. In 2020, Monica decided to look up her old favorite teacher online and see how she was doing.

They both had recently come out as gay and were going through a hard time. They started chatting online and then met for lunch in 2021 for the first time in 17 years. They became good friends and then fell in love.

They both divorced their previous spouses and moved in together. They also have children from their previous marriages who support their relationship.

They proposed to each other in the fall of 2022 and had a small beach wedding at Suttons Bay on Lake Michigan on June 17, 2023. They also had a “mini wedding” with Monica’s kids Zeke, 7, and Charlie, 5, who wore a rainbow bowtie and a wedding dress respectively.

The couple does not care about the 25-year age gap or the fact that they met as teacher and student. They say they have a lot in common and enjoy hobbies like camping, beer hunting, and music.

They are happy and grateful to have found each other after so many years. They say their wedding day was “wonderful” and “special”.
