Arsenal's Pursuit of Napoli's Victor Osimhen as talks Underway for Striker's Potential Transfer

 Victor Osimhen

Reportedly, discussions have taken place regarding the potential acquisition of Victor Osimhen, the Nigerian striker from Napoli, by Arsenal Football Club.

According to a report released on Tuesday, August 29, by the prominent sports website FootballTransfers, Arsenal's Sporting Director, Edu Gaspar, initiated contact with Napoli's owner, Aurelio De Laurentiis. The purpose of this communication was to inquire about the potential availability of Victor Osimhen.

The report states, "Our sources indicate that Edu Gaspar of Arsenal reached out to Aurelio De Laurentiis, the owner of the Serie A club, to explore the possibility of securing the services of Victor Osimhen. This interest was sparked by positive feedback from the player's agent, Roberto Calenda."

Furthermore, it is indicated that Arsenal has aspirations to add Victor Osimhen to their roster in the year 2024. The motivation behind this move stems from Arsenal's desire to bring in a top-tier number 9 player. In the previous season, the team saw a relatively even distribution of goals among their players. Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli, and Bukayo Saka each contributed 15 goals, while Gabriel Jesus, who grappled with a significant injury, managed to score 11 goals. Players like Eddie Nketiah and Granit Xhaka achieved nine goals apiece. Notably, Granit Xhaka has since transferred to Bayer Leverkusen during the current transfer window.

According to FootballTransfers, sources suggest that Victor Osimhen, whose contract with the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium runs until 2025, is apparently not inclined to extend his tenure with his present club.

This development follows Victor Osimhen's recent accomplishment of scoring his 100th professional career goal, achieved from a penalty kick against Sassuolo on Sunday, August 27.
